What makes a documentary powerful?

I believe for a documentary to be powerful and stand out from the rest it must include many different documentary techniques, interviews with experts sharing their opinions, factual relevant information, background music for some scenes, flashbacks and recent footage that is interesting, reenactments, images, and quotes.

Term 4: Lesson 1

I have watched documentaries about animals, (by David Attenborough), Australian story’s, prisons, different countries, historical places, inspirational people, finding Bigfoot, sports injuries, Bear Grylls, and homelessness in Australia.

I know these things about documentaries; they are factual, they are generally quite long, some are interesting, some are boring, they feature experts, doctors and scientists, and their opinions, they are usually on the one topic, they provide information, are educational and they are on television.

Questions I have about documentaries:

  • Are they always true?
  • How long does it take to make them?
  • Are they biased?
